Riverdale Centennial Celebration of 2008

The City of Riverdale will celebrate its 100 year anniversary in the year of 2008! A group of dedicated volunteers have been working to develop and implement events and activities to commemorate this milestone and to engage the community at large.

Purpose of the Centennial Celebration:

• Celebrate the Centennial
• Encourage community involvement from many different sectors of Riverdale
• Recognition of the various organizations and institutions that have been in
Riverdale for 100 years
• Educate the public on the history of Riverdale
• Capture and record Riverdale’s history
• Commemorate the Centennial year

Events Planned for Centennial:

Centennial Parade – July 12th

Opening Day Ceremony – July 12th

Centennial Gala – TBA

Tree Planting – TBA

Fall Festival - TBA

Open Burning Ban
A reminder to all Riverdale residents that the Georgia Environmental Protection Division(EPD)Burning ban will be in effect May 1st through September 30th. Riverdale-Clayton County is one among 45 surrounding counties that are subject to the open burning ban during the summer months.

Residents who wish to report open burning should call Riverdale Fire Services at(770)996-1919 ext. 146. Or the Georgia EPD Mountain District Atlanta Office at (404)362-2671. [Additional info...]

Welcome to Our New Website!
The City of Riverdale partnered with CivicPlus, the industry leader in government website designs and communications, to help transform the City’s website into a beautiful, yet powerful, citizen communication tool. The new website facilitates 24/7 communications between citizens and city offices. The enhanced public service features include main page news and announcements, unique event calendars and a robust site search engine, as well as:

•Language Translation Tool: site visitors are able to translate the website to several different languages

•Online Service Requests: enables residents to submit online service requests, work orders and complaint forms

•Document Center: allows for easy access for site visitors to retrieve a variety of documents, forms, etc.

•Staff Directory: allows site visitors to search for a specific employee by last name, first name, and by department.

•Notify Me e-mail Subscriptions: empowers site visitors to sign up to be notified via e-mail about activities, meetings, and to receive the City’s newsletter

We are excited about the new website and eager to utilize the new functionality that will allow our staff to better communicate with the citizens of Riverdale.
