Keep Riverdale Beautiful Launches County-Wide Art Mural Competition

(Riverdale, March 5th, 2018)
–  The City of Riverdale’s community beautification program, Keep Riverdale Beautiful, is partnering with Clayton County Public Schools to launch a county-wide art mural competition for their Canvas on the Curb initiative. KRB’s vision for the competition is to create a visual, narrative of the past, present and future of the City of Riverdale. The mural will be located on a brick wall animating a MARTA bus stop, one of several initiative locations.

The competition is open to high school students (9-12) in Clayton County Public Schools and will begin, Monday, March 5th and end on Monday, March 19th. All concepts and digital renderings must be submitted to aokosun@riverdalega.gov.

The Canvas on the Curb initiative is aimed at improving and beautifying the City of Riverdale’s local Marta bus stops, sidewalks and street access points. Through the implementation of trash & recycling bins, art & lighting installations, shelters, and benches, look to provide the citizens of Riverdale with clean and user-friendly public spaces and services.

The mission for Keep Riverdale Beautiful is to engage, educate and empower residents to create a more vibrant, clean and socially connected city of Riverdale.  The community beautification program is geared to transform the city’s aesthetic viability through innovative beautification measures. The city recognized the need to establish an entity whose mission is to improve community awareness, understanding and engagement around environmental issues. Keep America Beautiful, Inc., established in 1953, is the nation's largest volunteer-based community action and education organization. With a network of nearly 1,000 affiliate and participating organizations, Keep America Beautiful forms public-private partnerships and programs that engage individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community's environment.
