About RFS
Overview
Riverdale Fire Services was founded in 1961 as a volunteer fire department; however in 1972, the department became a fully paid department. Today, RFS is a fully paid career department consisting of 30 members.

We provide fire and emergency medical response to an area of 4.5 miles with a diverse residential population over 12,000. The City has a wide array of commercial and medical occupancies that substantially increase the daytime visitor population. Currently, RFS possesses and ISO rating of 4.

Composition
RFS is divided into three divisions:
  • Administration
  • Operations
  • Fire Marshal's Office

Administration consists of the Office of the Fire Chief and the Administrative Assistant. Operations has 30 personnel that include:
  • 3 Battalion Chiefs
  • 6 Lieutenants
  • 6 Sergeants
  • 15 Firefighters, First Reponsders, EMTs, and Paramedics.

The Fire Marshal's Office consists of the Fire Marshal and the Public Life Safety Educator.

Fleet
The RFS fleet consists of a Ford Excursion at Battalion Command, a 1996 Ferrara quint and 2008 F450 rescue 1 at Station 1, a 1994 Pierce (reserve) , and a 1997 Ferrara engine at Station 2.
