Community Policing
Community Oriented Policing is an integral part of the workings of the City of Riverdale Police Department. Not only do we handle crime using traditional reactive law enforcement tactics, but we also use methods that include pro-active problem-solving, community engagement, and partnerships.

Community policing requires police and citizens to join together as partners. We encourage you to get involved helping make Riverdale a safer place to live, work and visit.

Apartment Coalition
Apartment managers and their staff meet with the Police and guest speakers to discuss concerns that are unique to apartment complexes.

Chief & Citizen Advisory Board
The Chief of Police and Citizen’s of Riverdale meet to discuss ongoing issues in the City of Riverdale.

Citizen Public Safety Academy
A ten (10) week training session that provides insight into the workings of the Riverdale Police and Fire Departments.  Classes include: Gang and Drug Awareness, First Aid and CPR, Crime and Fire Prevention. 

This is not to train the attendee to be a police officer or fire fighter.

CORY - Citizens of Riverdale Youth Program
Middle and high school aged youth meet during the summer to participate in interactive training sessions. Topics range from gang activity to mentoring.

CROSS - Citizens Reaching Other Sides Safely
An adult pedestrian safety program for residents of Riverdale.

G.R.E.A.T. - Gang Resistance Education and Training
An elementary and middle school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curriculum. 

This program  provides students with the life skills they need to help them avoid using delinquent behavior and violence to solve problems.

Neighborhood Police Officer Program
Officers are liaisons to an assigned neighborhood. They interact with residents as a partner and work to find solutions to identified problems.

Neighborhood Watch
Neighbors in Riverdale working together with Riverdale Public Safety Departments to keep their neighborhood safe.

National Night Out
A nationwide evening event that promotes neighborhood unity as well as a Police and Community partnership.

TRIAD Senior Citizen Group
Seniors throughout Riverdale and Clayton County are invited to gather once a month for safety and awareness sessions. 

Meetings are held on the second Friday of every month at 10:00am in Riverdale City Hall Council Chambers, 6690 Church St.
