Planning Commission

Overview

The City of Riverdale Planning Commission is an advisory board to City Council. The monthly meetings are open to the public, provided they have cases to consider. The meetings are held at the City Hall Complex, Council Chambers, 7200 Church Street, Riverdale, Georgia 30274 the second Wednesday of every month at 6 pm.

Powers and Duties:

The Planning Commission is a part of the government of the city. It shall be the duty of the board, and it shall have power, to recommend or make suggestions to the governing body and other authorities concerning the streets, sidewalks and boulevards; the relief of traffic conditions, congestion, and development of housing and sanitary conditions; the establishment of zones or districts and amendments thereto; the use, height, area and bulk of buildings or structures.

Membership, Terms and Appointments:

The Commission consists of five (5) citizens of the city, to be appointed by the mayor, and with the advice and consent of the council. Members of the governing body are not eligible for appointment. Nominations are made by staff members and/or the governing body.
